吉米老师碎碎念:同学们在听第一遍音频的时候最好先不要看文本,采用盲听的方式,看看自己能听懂多少。

然后对照原文听第二遍,注意每个单词的发音。第三遍继续盲听,再对照,以此反复,精听至少4遍,直到自己能够听清每个单词及发音技巧。

这个方法能够帮助你提升英语的语感和听力。如果同学们在听第一遍的时候已经能够听清 80% 的单词,证明你的英语水平真的很了不起哦。

1.凿壁偷光

Kuang Heng was born in a poor family. He liked reading books very much. He needed to work at daytime, so he had to read books during night. But he was too poor to buy a candle.

One day, he found his neighbour had candles, but the light couldn’t go through his room. So he dug a small hole on the wall so that he could use the light to read books. From that day, he read books every night until the light went out.

However, he finished reading all his books and there were no books for him to read. Then he went to a rich man’s house and worked for him without payment. The rich man asked: “ Why don’t you want the money?” Kuang Heng said: “ Because I only want to borrow your books.” The rich man agreed. Kuang Heng read the books one by one.

Finally, he became a great scholar.

故事梗概

匡衡勤奋好学,但家中没有蜡烛。邻家有蜡烛,但光亮照不到他家,匡衡就在墙壁上凿了洞引来邻家的光亮,让光亮照在书上读书。

县里有个大户人家不怎么识字,但家中富有,有很多书。匡衡就到他家去做雇工,但不要报酬。

主人感到很奇怪,问他为什么这样,他说:“我希望读遍主人家的书。”主人听了,深为感叹,就借给匡衡书。于是匡衡成了一位伟大的学者。

Zu Ti of the Jin Dynasty was very clever and talent. When he was young, he had a good friend named Liu Kun. They had a deep friendship. So they stayed together every day. Furthermore, they even slept on one bed every night and got up at the same time every morning.

One day, when they were sleeping, Zu Ti heard the rooster crowing, he woke up Liu Kun and said: How about getting up to play swords as soon as we heard the rooster crowing from now on? Liu Kun was still sleepy. But he agreed with him joyfully. From then on, they got up and played swords once the rooster began crowing. They kept their words and never gave up no matter how cold in winter or hot in summer.

A few years later, they both grew up with great talent and wisdom. And they both did excellent job to their country.

故事梗概

晋朝的祖逖非常的聪明有才华。在他年幼的时候,他有一个好朋友刘琨。他们情感深厚,每天都待在一起。他们甚至每晚都睡在一张床上,每天早上一起起床。

有一天,祖逖在睡梦中听到公鸡打鸣的声音,他把刘琨叫醒对他说:从今天起,我们听到公鸡打鸣就起来舞剑如何?刘琨尚有困意,但他还是欣然答应了。从那以后,他们就约定每天公鸡一打鸣就起来舞剑。他们信守承诺,无论寒冬酷暑,从未放弃。几年之后,他们都成长为才华和智慧兼备的人。尽忠尽责地报效祖国。

3.悬梁刺股

In the Eastern Han Dynasty, a man named Sun Jing was a famous politician. As a young man, he was diligent in study and often forgot eating and sleeping. When he was reading, he tied his hair to the roof beam with a rope. Therefore, when he dozed, he would feel pain and wake up as his hair was pulled upward by the rope, so that he would go on studying.

Su Qin in the Warring States Period was another example like Sun Jing. He felt sleepy when he was reading, so he took an awl and stabbed it into his own legs. Thus, the sudden pain would wake him up, and he could continue reading.

东汉时,有一个叫孙敬的年轻人,孜孜不倦勤奋好学,从早读到晚很少休息,有时候到了三更半夜的时候很容易打盹,为了不影响学习,孙敬想出一个办法,他找来一根绳子,一头绑在自己的头发上,另一头绑在房子的房梁上,这样读书疲劳打瞌睡的时候只要头一低,绳子牵住头发扯痛头皮,他就会因疼痛而清醒起来再继续读书。

战国时期的苏秦是一个有名的政治家,但是他在年轻的时候学问并不多,到了好多地方都没有人关注,即使有雄心壮志也得不到重用,于是他下定决心发奋图强努力读书。由于他经常读书读到深夜,疲倦到想要打盹的时候就用事先准备好的锥子往大腿上刺一下,这样突然的痛感使他猛然清醒起来,振作精神继续读书。

古有孙敬头悬梁,苏秦锥刺股,来告诫后人要认真读书学习。

4.狐假虎威

One day, a tiger was hungry. The tiger met a fox and wanted to eat it.

“How dare you eat me?!” the fox shouted.

“Why not?” the tiger asked.

“ I am sent by god to rule all the animals! I am the king of animals! If you eat me, you will defy the order of heaven!” the fox said.

The tiger said:“ I don’t believe you! You must be lying!”

The fox said:“ If you don’t believe me, you can walk behind me and go to the forest with me. Then, you can see all the animals are scared and run away when they see me.”

So, the tiger followed the fox, going to the forest. As soon as the animals saw them, they fled for their lives.

The tiger didn’t realize it was him that all the animals were really afraid of.

从前在某个山洞中有一只老虎,因为肚子饿了,便跑到外面寻觅食物。它碰到了一只狐狸,狐狸刚要溜走,已被它一把捉住。狡猾的狐狸看见自己无法逃脱,就耍了一个花招。它一本正经地斥责老虎说:“你怎么敢吃我?我是天帝任命来管理所有的野兽的,你要吃了我,就是违抗天帝的命。”老虎一听愣住了。狐狸马上接着说:“你要是不信,就跟在我后面走一趟,看看是不是所有的野兽见了我都赶快逃命。”老虎听狐狸说话的口气很大,态度也很强硬,有几分相信了,决定跟着狐狸去看看。有许多小动物正在那儿争相觅食,但是当它们发现走在狐狸后面的老虎时,不禁大惊失色,狂奔四散。老虎以为百兽真的害怕狐狸而不知道是害怕自己,于是就把狐狸给放了。

Yang Shi of the Song Dynasty didn’t want to be an official after he passed the highest imperial examination. He just wanted to concentrate on the academic research.

At the beginning, he took Cheng Hao, a Neo-Confucianist as his master in Ying Chang, and learned a lot from him. After Cheng Hao passed away, Yang Shi and his classmate went on to Luo Yang and consulted another famous Neo-Confucianist named Cheng Yi. He was Cheng Hao’s brother. When they arrived at Cheng Yi’s house, Cheng Yi was taking a nap inside. So they decided to wait for him outside instead of waking him up.

It was snowing that day. They stood outside for a long time before Cheng Yi was awake. Meanwhile, the snow has gathered one foot deep. Finally, Cheng Yi was moved by their respect for him.

故事梗概

程颢、程颐兄弟俩都是宋代极有学问的人。进士杨时,为了丰富自己的学问, 毅然放弃了高官厚禄,跑到河南颖昌拜程颢为师。后来程颢死, 他又跑到洛阳去拜程颢的弟弟程颐为师。于是,他便和他的同学游酢[yóu zuò]一块儿到程家去拜见程颐,但是正遇上程老先生午睡。于是他们决定在门外等候而没有叫醒他。那天,外面正下着雪。他们等了很长时间,程颐醒来,门前积雪已经一尺深了。程颐被他们恭敬的态度感动到了。

In the State of Zheng, there was a man who wanted to buy a pair of new shoes for himself.

Before leaving home, he measured his foot with a rope.

When he entered a shoe shop, he put his hand into his pocket to find the rope.

But he found he didn’t take the rope with him.So he decided to return home to get the rope back.

But when he rushed back to the shoe shop with the rope, the shop had been closed. He got nothing.

An old man saw him and asked: “Why don’t you try on the shoes with your feet?”

The man said: “I would rather trust the measurement than my own feet.”

King Xuan of Qi liked listening to a kind of music - yu.

Therefore, he ordered 300 players to make a band to play yu for him.

A man named Nan Guo heard this news. He went to apply for this job.

He didn’t know how to play yu, but he told the king that he could play yu very well.

King Xuan of Qi was very happy when he heard this and let him be a member of the band.

From then on, he played fake music every day and was paid like others until King Xuan of Qi died.

King Min succeeded to the throne after King Xuan died. He also loved to listen to you.

But he liked to listen to solos.

When Nan Guo heard about this news, he was so afraid that he ran away at night.

故事梗概

齐国的国君齐宣王爱好音乐,尤其喜欢听吹竽,他派人组成了一支300人的乐队在一起合奏给他听,并给这些乐手们很丰厚的报酬。有个南郭先生听说了齐宣王的这个爱好,心里痒痒的,他虽然对竽一无所知,但觉得这是个赚钱的好机会。于是南郭跑到齐宣王那里去,吹嘘自己的竽吹得有多好,齐宣王听后便信以为真了,很爽快地收下了他。这以后,南郭先生就随那300人一块儿合奏给齐宣王听,每逢演奏的时候,南郭先生就捧着竽混在队伍中,人家摇晃身体他也摇晃身体,人家摆头他也摆头,脸上装出一副动情忘我的样子,居然没有被任何人看出破绽来。但是好景不长,过了几年,齐宣王死了,他的儿子继承了王位。年轻的王子也爱听吹竽,可是他和齐宣王不一样,他认为独奏更加动听,一群人一块儿吹实在太吵。

南郭先生得到这个消息之后吓出了一身冷汗。他想来想去,觉得这次再也混不过去了,只好连夜收拾行李逃走了。

故事告诉人们:弄虚作假是经不住时间的考验,终究会露出马脚的。

Once upon a time, there was a thief saw a doorbell hanging on the neighbour’s door. He wanted to steal it.

But he knew that bell would ring as soon as he touched it. And then he would be discovered.

He thought: Only using ears can hear the sound. What if I cover my ears? Then the sound would not be heard anymore.

Whereupon he covered his own ears and tried to steal the bell. However, he was discovered immediately when he touched the bell.

从前有一个人,看见人家大门上挂着一个铃铛,想把它偷走。

Hua Tuo was a great medical scientist in China. He had excellent medical skills and always made a right judgement of the illness.

One day, two guys came to his home. Both of them said they had headache and fever. But, after diagnosing two of them, Hua Tuo gave them two kinds of different medicine. These two men were confused and asked: “We have the same symptom, why should we take different medicine?” Hua Tuo smiled: “Although your symptom looks the same, it was caused by different causes. So you should take different medicine.”

Soon after, these two men recovered.

华陀是东汉末年著名的医学家,他医术高明,诊断准确,在我国医学史上享有很高的地位。华陀给病人诊疗时,能够根据不同的情况,开出不同的处方。有一次,两个人一同到华陀那儿看病,他们诉说的病症相同:头痛发热。华陀分别给两人诊了脉后,给其中一人开了泻药,而给另一人开了发汗的药。两人看了药方,感到非常奇怪,问:”我们两人的症状相同,病情一样,为什么吃的药却不一样呢?”

华陀解释说:“你俩只是病症的表象类似,实则病因却大不相同,我当然得对症下药,给你们用不同的药治疗了。”二人服药后,没过多久,病就全好了。

Long ago, there were four blind people. They wanted to know what elephants looked like. Because of the blindness, they could only touch the elephant.The fat blind person touched the elephant’s ivory first. He said: “ Oh, I see! The elephant is big, thick and smooth, just like the carrots.” The tall blind person touched the elephant’s ear and yelled: “ No, no, no. The elephant is a big fan!” The short blind person touched the elephant’s leg. He said: “ You are all wrong! The elephant is a pillar.” The old blind person said: “ The elephant is not that big. It’s just like a rope.” He was touching the elephant’s tail. The four blind people were arguing endlessly. Each of them said he himself was right. We all know that none of them is right.
