桤木桤木Alnus桦木科桤木属植物的通称。又称赤杨。共40余种,分布于亚洲、非洲、欧洲及北美洲。中国有7种1变种,分布于东北、华北、华东、华南、华中及西南。材质轻软,为水工、坑木、建筑等用材;树皮、果实提制栲胶;叶作饲料或沤肥;根系发达,耐水湿、具根瘤,是护岸固堤、改良土壤的树种,也是优良的用材树种和薪炭材树种。桤木为落叶乔木或灌木。单叶互生,具叶柄,叶缘锯齿或浅裂,稀全缘,托叶早落。花单性,雌雄同株。总状或圆锥状花序。果序球果状,每个果苞内有2枚小坚果。桤木喜光,幼树稍耐荫。对水湿和肥力要求较高。萌芽力强,生长迅速。根具根瘤菌,有改良土壤的作用。种子极小,可用条播或撒播。一年生苗高1米可出圃造林。因有固氮能力宜选作混交树种。
